Hi Sandra I dont get on here very often.  But some advice I can give you is.  Look for jobs in local hospital emergency departments as a Critical Care Technician (CCT) or whatever they call that position. Qaulification are usually EMT or CNA and if it is busy enough you will be able to use you EMT skills.  Also the hospitals pay more.  I am not sure based on your location how far you are from big cities in NC but you may have to commute to get on to a private service in the big cities or even a fire department that is hiring.  Hope this information is helpful! Take care wish you well.

Hi Sandra, I didn't find a job in the Atlanta area at all.  I moved back to my home state in the frozen tundra of Ohio and got one right away.  I start work as soon as my license transfers.  Come on up and join me.  Pleanty of openings here.  TTYL.

It's a shame they won't let you try. I've been in the business since 1984, some of my best partners have been women. The men's wives are the problem, they are jealous and want to label you as things I refuse to say on here.

That's unfortunate about the volunteer department. It's exactly what I was going to suggest, and what I ended up doing while waiting to get into the service I am in now. If you haven't already, extend the boundaries of your job search area. I was applying for jobs up to 2 hours away. If you can manage the commute, even just for the short term, it could be in your benefit, as well as, a step in the right direction. Good Luck! I know here in the Charlotte area there are many job openings with great benefits!

I was told that I should voulunteer at local fire departments in order to get some experience. I have tried in two area fire departments and they don't seem to be taking on (Women) volunteers. What can I do?? Any thoughts??
