Remembering a great firefighter/EMT
One of the worse things in the Fire/EMS field is having to attend the funeral of one of your own. Whether it's in the line of duty or not. Please keep the family of Firefighter EMT Kenny "Hollywood" Christianson in your thoughts and prayers. Kenny was a member of the Stone Bank and Ashippun fire deprtments. On Sunday the 14th of June,at the age of 25, Kenny died from complications of a motorcycle crash. Getting bored with EMS...
Ok Everyone...so it's getting to the pont that being a "volunteer" is not cutting it anymore, but I love my department. Our call volume is such that I may not get a call for three months at a time. It is getting to the pont that I don't know if all the training and time that I have been putting in is worth it anymore. Anybody got any ideas to get the spark going again. I feel like I am loosing my skills and sitting at a station for 12 hours and getting nothing is starting to get on my nerves.… Continue

Dave Bloom said… - I have those times every once in a while, myself. It had gotten worse when I was driving a school bus and wasn't active in EMS. What worked that time was the resource sent out a Continuing Education packet with the study material enclosed for a change. I was able to do well on the test, and able to catch up on some back ConEd topics. That got me to complete a relicense cycle, and I found another job in EMS.
