Columbia and the Upstate has some great services. If you want to stay by the coast, then hiltonhead or Myrtle beach. But, I believe those are FD systems. Everything in the upstate is mostly County third services.

WOW, Thanx for the info. Any suggestions as to which may be a good area to work in, I am not pressed for time, just looking into the future..

I do not and have not worked for Charlston County. I have talked with about 12 former employees of CCEMS and have yet to find one that had any good to say about the system. You can take this for what it is, second hand talk. But normaly< you can find at least one person that likes working there. That has not been the case with my asking around.

Hello, I am a paramedic from Wisconsin area. I have a new technology that I feel should be seen and used by all EMS providers. This new technology actually splints the cervical spine in any position just not neutral for marketed collars. If you like to see information on this, please contact me.

Greetings... I am an EMT-B from NY State (NOT the city) newly arrived in SC and just given my SC credentials. As an FNG to the state of SC and looking for work (in the Sumter area) I sure would appreciate any advice you have on obtaining additional EMS training and employment. That said... let's hear from y'all.

Thanks in advance

I copied pictures to facebook and titled it "Life After Death". It is I hope what you are all dreaming of, retiring. You each must start planning your lifestyle and finances to look ahead. I helped deliver this baby you call "EMS". Take care of your own health first. Then give to others.
God bless you all! I love being retired but miss all the personal agendas and stress. lol Johnny Medic 80113

I think it is a bad thing, because a lot of times a basic emt is first on the call location and the sooner we get good cpr going along with a good established airway the better off the patient will be. also a lot of ems providers in the state only have basic emt on their services and to me this takes away some of the life saving abilities that the state have at the availability. but most of all remember we are "ALL" still basic emts with just some of us that are emt-I & paramedics with more responsibilities and with more things that can go wrong
