I just wanted to touch base with each of you again and let you know what has been happening on behalf of the NAEMT. KC Jones, NAEMT Director for Region IV and I have just arrived home from the RDPC Summit in Albuquerque NM (www.ruraltraining.org). The RDPC conducts free training to rural first responders this includes fire, ems and law enforcement. We sat down with different First Responder Agencies and State Agencies to represent our professional needs and training for different types of events that effect us in rural areas. The fallow up to the event was a trip to the New Mexico Tech (www.emrtc.nmt.edu/training/), to witness 4 bombings and the aftermath each can cause.
Next Month in May is a very busy month. EMS on the Hill Day you will be able to meet all of the Directors and President, Past, Present and Future as well as other officers. We will be meeting with congressional officials on National issues that affect the EMS professional.
The next event in May is the Pioneers of Paramedicine Gala that will be honoring the four MD's that made our profession possible (www.pioneersofparamedice.org) .
The last one that I know of currently that I will be helping with this quarter is the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride (www.muddyangels.org) . I will be donating my time to help with support of the riders for this event. Many of our states have experienced significant loss with our EMS professionals and this event is dedicated to their life, memory and service. The funds that are raised by the riders and support staff is given to the education of the children affected. If you would like to donate to this cause please contact me for more information.
If any of you will be attending any of these events please let me know! I would love to chat.
This is a busy time but I would like to encourage you to support your local, state, and national conferences this year. They all offer tremendous opportunities for learning. Thank you for all that you do in helping your local communities!
