Sileigh and I got back home to AZ last night. We really enjoyed meeting so many nice people, and had a great time. We are looking forward to doing the ride again and again...................

Got to get me some of that elixer!!! Hey boss, look a spot on your tie...let me get that...POOF!!! Problem solved. ;-)

I know everyone is licking their wounds...well only the most flexible can get to all of them inflicted from the saddle!!! Lol. I digress...can someone from the board (or one of your many overpaided staffers...ha) compile a list with addresses of agencies that provided support at the rest stops along the way? My wife and I would like to send personal "thank yous" to them if possible. I cant believe I lost eight pounds the way they fed and took care of us so I think a personal note is in order. The best you can do, the sooner you can when you have a moment. Thanks again! Now, I have some pics to sort!!!

Well been sorting through 47GB of photos. I'm going cross eyed and can't see straight. It could be just Shane's elixer just wearing off, or I'm I going blind from that stuff. Thanks all it was an emotional and fun ride.

Will,
Glad you made it home ok!! I appreciate the thanks from you and George. Glad the magic elixer did as advertised. I was looking at hiring Vince (the sham-wow guy) to help advertise, but with an endorsement from W. Merrins, man of many talents, should be enough! Whenever you get some time to talk give me a call, I am off till Fri.

Thanks everyone for an AWSOME ride!!! I went home on monday with one of the other NEMSMS directors. I would like to take this time to personally thank each and everyone of you involved in the ride. Riders, wingmen, agency personnel, fans, and the board. You guys did an outstanding job. I made a bunch of new friends and the memories of my first complete ride will last a lifetime. (and just as a side note, I put Dr. Dingus' magic elixer and spot remover to the test on a grease stain on my jersey. The spot, jersey, and washing machine, are all gone and I still have a good buzz going. Great product there Shane.)

Back home safe. Drove back with the Dave Page group and those wonderful "lime green" shirts who had enough water to pour atop my helmet to keep me cool. Thank you! STORY; at a pit stop in WV a family, stopped by to thank us for our efforts. He and his wife and family were on the way camping, his daughter a paramedic as well. Jim of Charleston, his wife, then handed us a 50 for our accomplishments and thank yous. After refusing, his daughter reached out and put the 50 in one of the medics bermuda shorts. Thank you Jim of Charleston WV! We were blown away standin the parking lot!

You all should be proud of all our accomplishments. Now to the stretching;
Calves
Quads
Hamstrings
Piriformis
Lateral stability muscles
back to the execise ball
neck
and yes the kayak is coming out of hibernation this week!
A pleasure to meet and ride with you all!

For the engineers and bean counters in the group, Here's what TOPO USA gleaned from the GPS readings I collected on the ride:

Day Distance Total Time Ride Time Climb Average Speed Calories
1 77.50 670 465 3,541 10.00 7,619
2 96.60 720 566 5,490 10.24 9,275
3 102.00 742 492 2,234 12.44 8,063
4 33.80 411 166 2,081 12.22 2,720
5 72.30 638 415 9,307 10.45 6,800
6 75.90 473 357 6,191 12.76 5,850
7 90.10 663 440 6,988 12.29 7,210

Total 548.20 4,317 2,901 35,832 11.34 47,537

Times are in minutes so, presuming you didn't get any more lost than I did, you were on your bike pedaling for 48.3 hours and out on the road between hotels for 71.9 hours. Calories come from calculations on Fitlinxx.com.

There were many memorable parts of the ride, but best of all was the opportunity to meet and ride with all of you. Major thanks and congratulations to the support staff that worked so hard to keep us on the road.

Keep pedaling and be safe out there. I want to ride with you, not ride to honor you!

John

Rocco & Blacksburg, If the light isn't needed asap, I have a daughter coming from Blacksburg to NH and back to Blacksburg around the 20th of June. Would you like her to transport it?
