The last ime I saw them for sale was in Chicago at the "Canteen".  This was on Roosevelt very close to the CFD Academy.  They supplied CFD uniforms, T-Shirts, patches, etc.   This was 14 years ago, so may not be valid info anymore.

Thank you David.  Now, can anyone help me find these rocker patches ("Certified Paramedic" & "Licensed Paramedic") for my collection?  Lol.

Some patch history - the rectangle patch with the state outline and various levels is the "official" Illinois patch. The first ones out in the mid 1970's were just the state outline and wording with SOL. A company called Fagel was the exclusive supplier.

The round patch shown in Shaun's post came about in the early to mid 1980's following the push by the Chicago Fire Department medics to become licensed by the state, rather than certified. One reason for this is thet they were seeking to avoid maintaining certifications under three different EMS systems covering the city. The patch is simply a National Registry EMT Basic (Ambulance at that time) patch with the added "LIcensed Paramedic" rocker. Saw this mostly on CFD medics and it caught on with the suburban FDs and privates in the Chicago area. They were rarely seen downstate. Just my .02

Tony T., I know for a fact that no ambulance service or EMS provider, at least in the Chicagoland area, wears these patches found at that link. Paramedics wear the one shown (some wearing "Certified Paramedic" and EMT's wear the main patch shown without the rocker patch.

For the "OFFICIAL" IL EMS Patches here are a couple sites who have them available...

After searching long and hard to find a picture, I have finally come up with one.  This is the Illinois EMT patch with the "Licensed Paramedic" rocker that I am desperately looking for to add to my collection. There is also a "Certified Paramedic" rocker.  PLEASE HELP ME FIND THEM!!!

Our hearts and prayers go out to the friends, family and co-workers of the Clark Co. EMT who was killed in the line of duty this past weekend.

Thanks Jennipher...The closest I could get was 2 miles away...But I think I will look into leaving my car at the hotel and taking a cab...might be worth the money to save the headache. I hope I will get some information before the day I think sign up is done this friday so maybe I'll hear something after that..Thanks again for all your info..

Hi Jolene--I am a voluteer in the medical tent, but I usually get dropped off by Columbus & Balbo and walk up to the Balbo med tent. I've included a link to the volunteer page of the Bank of Illinois Chicago Marathon 2010. I believe it will have parking instructions. For hotels....if I were you.....I'd stay as close to the action as possible and walk to the event. Your hotel will probably charge you for parking anyway. http://www.chicagomarathon.com/CMS400Min/Chicago_Marathon/spectator...
