WELCOME !

We are a different breed of a different breed. In light of the Haitian disaster and the approaching tropical storm season (Pago Pago is already being threatened - again!) I thought we needed a corner in this EMS lounge to share info about our own experiences and how we prepare for them and anything else we feel will help each other in our missions.

David,

I am interested in learning more how that response training summit went in 2010.  I looked over the curriculum and it has some very interesting components.

Guys I have yet to post here but have posted on some of the other social sites.

Hey all - I'd like to take a minute to introduce myself.  I am currently finishing up my master's in emergency health services with UMBC.  I am working on the finalizations of my master's capstone with regards to paramedics and preparedness for disaster response.  I would like any that have been involved in such responses to take the following survey.  This is a non-conventional survey and I am not running statistics or likert scaling, merely gathering information about where current paramedic training has holes when it comes to preparing for disasters.

I apologize in advance as the survey takes quite some time to complete but I am sure that if the rewards develop into a formalized training program, it will be of great value.

The Survey address is:

Please feel free to pass the link on as well as contact me off-list with any questions at EMS_Chief@live.com.
Thank you in Advance.

The 2010 Integrated Medical, Public Health, Preparedness and Response Training Summit will take place May 12-16, in Nashville, TN. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This training summit brings together HHS partners including the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (OCVMRC), the Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP), and the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD).
